This summer we decided to buy an old emergency transport. We wanted to permanently equip a car for mobile medical support. Which we can also be lend to other groups. Several weeks we repaired all parts that where not in a bad shape and redesigned the interiours for our purposes. The medi bus now has a therapy table and chair. There are a lot of storages for bandaids, drugs and medical instruments. Some standard features of emergency transport vehicles came already in handy, like bright illumination and lockable drawers, which contributes to hygienic storing. At the outside much had to change for us to be able to use the truck and still be recognized as a medical service. So we tried to make the truck recognizable by many versions of the line „Medical supply“ in different languages that are common on the routes, as fas as we know.
The need for medial support changed little in comparison to April. There are still a lot of wounds, inflicted by the dangerous paths at the border crossings as well as injuries by police and military that come with violent pushbacks. Other typical acute cases include stomach sickness and cold. Many people describe a common fatigue and weakness, inflicted by living on the streets, uncertainty and violent encounters with police and military.
Quite too often we only can treat symptoms, ease some pains and only hope to avoid dangerous medical developments with our narrow services. Mostly we are frustrated about the state of society that lead to these harms.
